Affiliate Summit in the Big Apple 2011

I just got back from New York City, where we attended ASE2011. In short, it was an amazing show. I always enjoy NYC — the food, the architecture, the energy, its all good! Affiliate Summit East is one of the biggest affiliate conferences in the world and this year was no exception. It was so big that they packed 2 conference rooms with booths at the New York Hilton. Not to mention how intense the parties were at night. This is solid proof that affiliate marketing is the greatest industry in the world. You mean I get to hang out with people from all over the world in New York and party for free? Can you really call that work?

On top of all the networking, I also got a chance to listen to some of the top experts in the industry drop knowledge:

1. Amazon tax
For those of you affected by the Amazon Nexus tax in California, there’s a glimmer of hope. Amazon is running a petition drive to get 500,000 signatures to put the tax on referendum. That means that it’ll be voted on in the next ballot by California’s citizens and put on pause for 8 months until it’s been voted on.

2. Affiliate Improv
Are you a new affiliate but don’t know how to get started? Try to make it to Affiliate Improv at the next Affiliate Summit. A panel of industry experts took ideas from the crowd and built an entire business out of their suggestions. This was a very fun and very interactive panel with plenty to learn.

3. Changes to the SEO game
Industry experts are concerned with changes to Google since the introduction of Panda. This great panel drilled down to the bits and pieces of how page ranking will be changed from now on. Google’s going to ramp up their efforts to bring relevant content to its users in many ways using their new system.
